Join Paul Talbot-Greaves on this unique

opportunity to paint Castles and Canals

of the Usk Valley plus landscapes of

Monmouthshire and Abergavenny.

We will paint along the Brecon and

Monmouth Canal at places such as

Goytre Wharf, Castles such as Caldicott

and/or Raglan, bridges such as the

Monnow Bridge in Monmouth plus Welsh

Heritage Sites such as Blaenavon

Ironworks with its traditional cottages

and remnants of an industrial past. The

grounds around the hotel with the lake,

reflections, streams and trees with their

dappled sunlight make for a great

subject as well as painting landscapes,

valleys and lakes giving plenty of variety

of painting subjects.

With Paul you will start by sketching,

where you can concentrate on

composition, before starting work on

your painting. He will assist with either a

demonstration or quick sketches to

illustrate what can be achieved quickly.

Paul likes to use a loose, rapid approach

to painting, usually completing a piece in

around two hours.

He helps painters with their own work,

giving individual tuition, offering helpful

and technical advice.
