The Vale of Usk covers Monmouthshire and Abergavenny where there are plenty of castles such as Caldicott
and Raglan as well as Goytre Wharf along the Brecon and Monmouth Canal. There are Welsh Heritage sites
such as Blaenavon ironworks and the Big Pit National Coal Musuem which have an abundance of diverse
painting material. There is also some beautiful countryside in the Usk Valley with lakes, forests and panoramic
views around Abergavenny. In particular there are some cracking views of the Sugar Loaf Mountain & The
Brecon Beacons from Keepers Pond high up on a mountain pass between Abergavenny and Blaenavon on
the edge of the Brecon Beacons. There are also painting opportunities in Monmouth itself including the
Monnow Bridge.
