Tim O'Brien, an award-winning artist,
author and tutor lives and works in rural
south Nottinghamshire. He started his
art career over 40 years ago, having
been trained in the traditional ways of
commercial art and illustration in the
late 1980s. As digital technology
revolutionised the industry he decided
to move away and focus on painting fine
art in the mid-1990s.
Today, Tim enjoys painting landscapes,
urban scenes, motoring, marine, railway
and aviation topics, mainly in oils and
watercolour for exhibitions, either
plein-air or in the studio. Over the years
he has worked on a wide variety of
projects but the highlights are when he
has collaborated with the Royal Navy
and Royal Air Force. This has given Tim
opportunities to go flying and spend
several days at sea with the Navy on
board their aircraft carriers gathering
reference for his art.
