Join Carol on this exciting opportunity to
paint in pastels in the Barle Valley in the
heart of Exmoor National Park.
This 4 day course will be predominantly
studio based but as the hotel is situated
in Simonsbath looking down the Barle
valley with plenty of painting potential
around the hotel, we hope to venture
outside to gather reference material.
You may choose to go for a walk, sketch
or alternatively remain in the studio to
work from reference photographs.
We will probably get out for a couple of
half days into the Barle Valley (weather
permitting) or you can have some
'down time' if you prefer.
Carol will show you how to pastels with
wet and dry techniques. Using pastels
'wet' is a very effective method for
painting reflections and ripples and
great for producing paintings of
water-based birds and animals.
She will also teach you how to use
pastels 'dry' and pastel pencils for
getting fine detail into a wide range of
animals as well as choosing the right
background.
Carol will demonstrate the various
stages of painting animals and will give
plenty of one-to-one tuition throughout.
She is an enthusiastic tutor and it gives
her enormous pleasure to see people
achieve the results they want in a
painting.
