Join Paul Talbot-Greaves on this unique
and exciting opportunity to paint in
unique & diverse Gibraltar.
We will paint a diverse range of subjects
in a variety of settings.
From the hustle and bustle of busy Main
Street where we can sketch the buzz of
cafe scenes and historic architecture
including Casemates and Mackintosh
Square to the majestic views of the
Straits of Gibraltar and the Atlas
Mountains of Africa. We will also paint in
the tranquil Botanical Gardens, opposite
the hotel.
From the hotel terraces we can paint
the Bay of Gibraltar and the coast of
Spain that has some beautiful sunsets.
We will visit Europa Point where we can
paint the Rock of Gibraltar, the Iconic
Lighthouse and the coast of Africa and
Camp Bay where we can paint the Atlas
Mountains, the Straits of Gibraltar, the
Bay of Gibraltar with many ships docked
and Algeciras in Spain in the distance.
We will also paint the many varied trees
and plants of the Alameda - Botanical
Gardens in the shadow of the Rock
Hotel. Lastly, we will go sketching along
Main Street, within Casemates and
Mackintosh Square, getting a real feel
for the urban sketching process.
On the day off, we will have a 'Rock
Tour" as an excursion using Inside Out
Rock Tours (who will be looking after
our group throughout the holiday)
where we will visit various landmarks of
Gibraltar. If, as a non-painter, you are
interested in other tours please let us
know.
With Paul you will sketch and take
photographs on site, where we can
concentrate on composition finding and
absorb subjects, before returning to the
studio to work on a finished painting.
Although the studio time is more
controlled and comfortable, Paul still
likes to use a loose, rapid approach to
painting, usually completing a piece in
around two hours.
Paul will lead by demonstration,
gathering participants around a table to
watch close hand, take notes and
discuss his techniques and approaches.
He helps painters with their own work,
giving individual tuition, demonstrations,
offering helpful and technical advice.
