The historic City of Wells is on the edge of the southern slopes of the Mendip Hills. It is England's smallest City
and as such has the atmosphere of a small market town, with its market square and cobbled streets and is
set within the lovely Somerset countryside. The world famous Cathedral which is probably the most beautiful
Cathedral in England has a large green at the front and is surrounded by plenty of quaint historic buildings
with many quiet side streets leading off from it including Vicar's Close. Bishop's Palace, a very tranquil spot, is
not far away and all this is close to the amenities. This provides for an abundance of beautiful painting
locations. Not far away is Kilver Court Gardens, the pretty villages of Nunney and Priddy which are in the
heart of the Mendip Hills.
